Spiritual Bodies

In Spiritual Bodies, the body becomes a landscape, and landscape becomes a way of picturing inner life. The female figure, animal companions, light, and thresholds bring memory and spiritual experience into a shared visual space.

Developed through Gold’s MFA research at the New York Academy of Art, this ongoing body of work asks how painting can give form to guidance, faith, vulnerability, and transformation. Figures travel, wait, and carry imagined worlds within them. Animals appear as companions and symbolic presences; their meanings remain open to personal and cultural association.

Painting anchors the project. Drawing, printmaking, and sculpture extend its inquiry into the relationship between visible form and experiences that resist direct representation.
